Eulogy
I
know we are all grieving today for we all lost a great lady. But
I know, wherever she is now, she's happy and contented with what
she left us.
Granny was a mother, an aunt, a mentor and a friend to all of us.
I'm sure each and every one of you here today has something to
share on how Granny touched your life. She shared a lot of good
memories, especially with me, her favorite grandchild.
Granny would make pancakes and guava jelly for us in the
mornings; she made the best pancakes. I can reflect on the times
we would pick guavas from the tree, Granny would commonly part
fights between Paul and me over who got the best guavas. She also
loved when I helped with the hemming and hanging of curtains. I
was honored when she made my wedding cake; I didn't have to ask.
Granny played a major role in the raising of Sukim, Paul and me
from toddlers to teenagers and more recently was instrumental in
filling out the Foster family tree.
Granny mentored us on many topics, from basic skills to language
and etiquette. When we were very young, she always insisted on having
meals on time and eating with a knife and fork the correct way.
Granny would always remind us of the Haynes' motto "you must see a
Haynes pass, not hear a Haynes pass", which I've passed down to my
children.
Granny has secured her legacy by producing hardworking children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren filled with strength,
leadership and empowerment.
We may no longer see her, but we'll always have these special
moments we shared with her. Granny will always have a special part
in our hearts. Let's just be thankful that we knew a special
lady like Granny.
